The primary goal of this work was to allow the '''merging of disparate data''' within the Biblissima portal and the IIIF Collections platform, and to facilitate the grouping of labels of shelmarks (manuscripts or printed books) which are often written in different ways from one database to another. | |||
The label associated with each entity has either been taken from the National Library of France's authority file (adjusted and updated), or created according to choices made by other libraries or dictionaries, or from the official website of the organisations. These labels are alternative forms of the name in the same way as any other form that may have been proposed over time to refer to a particular organisation. Therefore, they do not represent canonical or standard forms. Links have been made to the pages of the organizations' places or to a nearby location in the case of vanished organizations. Bibliographic notes provide additional clues as to the identity of some organizations, especially those that are not or hardly listed in other resources. |
